Research note: birthplace and children
The original file had him born in 1760 at Winchester, Virginia. His father’s first Virginia record is a land purchase in 1771, so he was probably born in New Jersey; his pension papers put his birth about 1760–61.
Besides George (1786) and Abram Thomas (1792), census and family records give him Mary (about 1791), Rebecca (1797, wife of William Bodine), Rachel (1798), John (1798), Jacob (1801), Albert (1804) and Dove (1809).
