Research note: his birth year and his family
Mark Malott’s Ancestry family tree calls him Harry Guy Malott and gives his birth as 14 February 1887 in Jackson Township, Clermont County, citing the 1930 census, and his death as 8 April 1966. The dates shown here, 14 February 1880 and 4 April 1966, come from his burial record at Williamsburg Cemetery. The day and month agree, so this is the same man; which year is right is not yet settled. A death certificate or Social Security record would decide it.
The same tree gives his line back to the Revolution: he was a son of Volney S. Malott (1849–1930), grandson of Lewis C. Malott (1824–1885), and great-grandson of Samuel Ringold Malott (1792–1834), a son of Theodore “Dory” Malott. The two generations before Volney are not yet backed by cited records.
