Dory served as a fifer in the Maryland militia during the Revolution. He married Ann Lane about 1780, moved to Clermont County, Ohio, around 1800, and died on 10 March 1845. His gravestone at Greenbush Cemetery, Green Township, Brown County, records his service. His father’s 1804 will names him as “Dory Melott.”
