Research note: the 1863 draft
The June 1863 Civil War draft registration for Green Township lists a Malott, 38, a carpenter who had already served 13 months in the infantry, on the line just above Delos C. Malott. His first name is hard to read and looks like “Launer.” Lewis, born in February 1824 in the next township, was the right age and may well be the man; his own military records, if found, would confirm it. Lewis and Delos were first cousins, both grandsons of Theodore “Dory” Malott.
