Where the Marlett name comes from

English-speaking clerks on Staten Island and in New Jersey wrote Merlet as they heard it, “MAR-lett.” Gedeon himself appears as Gideon Marlett in the Staten Island land records of 1675. Over time many Marletts became Marlatts. Read How Our Name Changed.
